Oakland is a city just east of San Francisco.
Its east side stretches up into the hills of the East Bay Regional Park District, with lots of hiking trails, Lake Chabot Marina, Oakland Zoo.
The west side is flatter and has the advantage of the San Francisco Bay shoreline, public golf courses, and Oakland, Alameda marinas.
Oakland is proud of its small-town feel with many diverse neighborhoods and boasts a Wednesday farmers' markets, several annual festivals, and an increasing number of locally owned coffee houses and diverse restaurants to serve a gastronomic destination.
Oakland's commute options are excellent. It has its own Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, transbay buses, ferry to San Francisco and easy access to Interstate 880 and Interstate 580 for trips to the Silicon Valley, Napa Valley or San Francisco.
